5 steps to take your Business on Facebook

The words Business and Facebook may seem to be incompatible. There is a widespread belief that social networks are for “wasting time with friends”. However reality shows that Facebook has become a mass media platform, to gaining and lose lots of customers at full speed, thanks to instant comunication between people.

What loses my Business for not taking part on Facebook? Having an honest and open relationship with their current clients and market.
In any social network people are used to say whatever they like, on what they want. This radical honesty helps you to have a two different ways of communication to improve your business.

Most likely, you already have a Facebook account. The next question is: which is the logical sequence for positioning my business in the biggest social network of the world? I recommend following these steps:

1. Create a Fan Page

The Fan Pages are the gateway for your Business. They allow you to create a page about your business inside Facebook. Is important to define previously witch information make sense and you would like to share about your business.

2. Add Valuable information

It is advisable to add to your Fan Page all types of content that might be interesting to your current and potential customers. This could include notes, news, photos or videos. It is wise to encourage people subscribed to your Fan Page to contribute with their own contents.

3. Publish the page in groups

On Facebook you can search for groups thar are related to your buisness. You can join to those with more members and advertise your Fan Page.

To avoid being catalogued as a “spammer” is important to advertise in groups of your Fan Page interesting contents for members, or to begin an attractive debate for your public.

4. Extend the network contacts

Each month you should do the important work of importing contacts from mails accounts and message programs to increase your network friends on Facebook. It would be also appropriate to ask them to invite their friends.

5. Establish relations

It is important to manage wisely the time with the relations on Facebook. You can’t know what happens with all your friends and fans of your page all the time.

Those most influential people (those who participate actively in interest groups) are our ideal target for establishing relations.

These are the people that we should warn first when we have discounts, promotions, and news about our business, because they are the people that more certainty will distribute our message.

If you are still not sure about bringing your business to Facebook I recommend to do a small survey to your clients and ask how many of them already have a FB account and how much time they spend on this social network. The result will probably surprise you.

  1. Hey, Great Post. I have a question which is somewhat off topic. What’s the difference between application profile page and Fan Page ? Is there a way to merge them

    • An application fan page is a type of fan page. You have different type of fan pages depends on what you want to communicate. Probably your current app fan page would work just fine for what you want to do…
